Resubmitting your SEO sitemaps in your Shopify store

A customer recently asked a quick question about sitemaps:

After I change many urls in my shop, should I resubmit the sitemap to google?

Resubmitting your sitemap after major changes could be useful.

It won't hurt and could speed up Google finding the new urls in the short term.

In the long-term, Google would find the new urls themselves as part of their indexing so it won't matter much.

If you've just migrated from another platform like Magento or BigCommerce though, resubmitting the Shopify version of the sitemap would be very useful to get things back to normal.

Most Shopify themes don't quality for Google's Rich Results so they lose out on highly visible SEO enhancements. Especially with Google's update earlier this month.

JSON-LD for SEO provides high-quality data that will let your store qualify for Rich Results. Often times faster than the industry averages.
