Make it easy for customers to find free shipping filler

When getting gifts this year, I ran into a typical "I need another $12 for free shipping" situation.

This store didn't have an easy way to filter products so I ended up spending way too much time browsing to find filler products.

If you offer free shipping above a threshold, there are many ideas that can work out of the box with Shopify:

  • Price below X collection
  • Named collection for add-ons, accessories, etc
  • Tagging low-priced products along with a filter or links to filter
  • Direct links from each product to those filler products
  • Product recommendations on the cart page

With a bit of code or an app you can do something more complex too.
