Customer tagging comes to Repeat Customer Insights

This morning I released the most requested feature for Repeat Customer Insights:

customer tagging

Customer tags from Repeat Customer Insights in Shopify

Now accounts on the Peak and Growth plans can have the app automatically sync each customers' segments to Shopify as tags. That means you can do additional segmenting or filtering in Shopify and see which segments a customer belongs to at a glance.

It also means if you use apps that use the Shopify customer tags, those apps can now access the customer segments without having to build a custom integration. e.g. send email campaigns to specific customer segments in Klaviyo.

This update has been a long time coming. Originally I was waiting for Shopify to build a better API for tagging but I got tired after years of waiting. Instead I found a way to change how the segments are constructed on my side and figured out how to fit the tagging into Shopify's API limitations.

My hope is that by getting tags released now, you can take advantage of them for this holiday season. e.g. prepare VIP campaigns, send an anti-defection email or two, etc.

If you don't have Repeat Customer Insights yet and would like to have your customers automatically segmented and tagged you can install now.
