A useful thing about the Customer Grids in my app is how they can show shifts in your customer segments.

Since they can compare any two periods you can see things like how Loyal customers have grown (or declined) over the last twelve months or if customer defections are on the rise.
It's these sorts of customer behavior trends that are difficult to notice without some very intensive reporting tools.
