Shopify Dispatch Issue #297 - Shop Pay coming to Google, Automatic international redirects

From discovery to checkout: Shopify and Google deepen commerce collaboration

It was hard to get through the hype around what's actually changing but it sounds like Shopify's Shop Pay will be added to Google Shopping as a payment option later this year. This could be useful as it removes some buying friction from your customers, assuming Google is representing your products well-enough.

Automatically redirect customers between international domains

In another change, Shopify can now redirect customers based on their geolocation. This used to be a Shopify Plus only feature but it's now available to more stores (except Lite and Basic).

Just be careful with it as it's 1) illegal in the EU and 2) can wreck your SEO for non-US domains (Google shows up as visiting from the US).

Given that they used to caution against automatic redirects for the SEO harm, I'm hoping they worked out the bugs that were present in the Plus version.
