What works in e-commerce - a meta-analysis of 6700 online experiments

Though published in June, I just came across this large study of A/B tests (PDF). Their key findings about how different components affected revenue per visitor was the most interesting.

What surprised me was that how ineffective simple UI changes were. These are the things that you see recommended all over the place with A/B testing (e.g. colors, buttons, calls to action).

Your customers aren't yours forever. One might have defected today, never to be seen again.

You need to analyze your customer behavior so you can reach them before they defect.
